Child and Teen Girl Group – Counselors and Therapists in Charlotte
“It’s Wednesday, and on Wednesday’s we wear pink,” Regina George and her posse tell Cady during her first time sitting with the “Plastics” in the cafeteria of North Shore High School. The line is infamous from the film “Mean Girls” and is often quoted in a joking matter amongst women and their squad. Sure the statement is harmless and fun but it’s underlying message isn’t. Teen girls face struggles everyday regarding their relationships with their peers, friends, family, and society’s expectations. So much pressure can eventually lead to unhealthy outlets and behaviors.
Thriveworks Charlotte understands raising a daughter is no easy feat. They also understand how important it is to have a strong support network when things in life get bumpy and unsettling for your daughter.
Thriveworks Charlotte is offering a girls group, Thrivegirls! Offered to girls from ages 13-18 it focuses on specific teen girl issues and strategies that empower them to handle what comes their way. Thrivegirls! focuses on building coping skills, self awareness, and proper communication skills that will aid girls in times of trouble and uncertainty during the everyday drama queen trouble. The group utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and is offered in early and late summer.
Many of the topics Thrivegirls! will discuss include:
- Cyber Bullying and Other Cyber Topics
- Body Image and Self Esteem
- Communication Skills
- Peer Pressure and Substance Abuse
- Parents and Family Transitions
- Friends and Intimate Relationships
Thriveworks Charlotte licensed and specialized counselors are ready to help facilitate a group where teenage girls can learn and thrive.
