Starting Life coaching

What is Life coaching?

Life coaching is a personalized support system that helps individuals clarify goals, develop action plans, and navigate challenges. Coaches employ effective communication and active listening to assist clients in overcoming obstacles, unlocking their potential, and achieving personal growth for a more fulfilling life.

How does Life coaching work?

In life coaching, our coaches utilize diverse therapeutic techniques that are tailored to individuals, including cognitive behavioral, solution-focused, mindfulness, and positive psychology approaches. They also utilize active listening and empathetic communication to provide a supportive space for you to explore and achieve personal goals and overcome challenges, fostering personal growth and clarity.

Is Life coaching conducted in person or online?

Life coaching with our therapists in Sandy Springs, GA is conducted both in person and virtually via online therapy. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.

How long does Life coaching last?

The number of life coaching sessions someone attends can differ based on the coach and the client's choices. How many sessions are needed and how often they occur often hinges on the client's objectives and the complexity of their concerns. Some clients might opt for a few sessions to tackle particular goals or issues, while others may decide on ongoing coaching sessions to work on personal growth and life enhancement over a more extended period of time. Thriveworks Sandy Springs therapists work with clients to create goals and potential timelines for treatment.

Need more help deciding?

Is your life everything you have ever imagined? Have you achieved your goals and dreams? Most of us cannot answer positively to this question. A well known psychologist, Erich Fromm, once wrote:

Man always dies before he is fully born.”

This may sound negative, but it is actually a positive thought. We all still have things to do! There is more we can accomplish on our short time on Earth. Human beings should always be trying to achieve more, trying to create better and more meaningful relationship, and trying to learn more about ourselves and our surroundings. There is always something more we can achieve; something more we can challenge ourselves to do.

At times, it can be difficult to even remember what your dreams and goals were in the past. Life can get so busy and overwhelming, that we are struggling to just survive, rather than being able to thrive. This is where an experienced life coach can help. We want to help bring you from simply getting through the day, to making positive movement towards accomplishing your hopes and dreams. It can be very difficult to take time for yourself in this way, but it is an important and meaningful task.

What is Life Coaching?

Have you ever wished your life could be completely different? What if you could wake up in the morning and create exactly the life that you want? Where would you live? What would your relationships be like? What would you do for work? Answering questions like these is a useful exercise in life coaching sessions. Being able to imagine how you would really like your life to look is an important first step in making changes that are meaningful to you. These types of questions are sometimes called “Miracle Questions.” They help clients to visualize and communicate the goals for their life.

Thriveworks Allanta Life Coaching endeavors to help clients move from simply surviving to thriving. In traditional therapy and counseling, usually the goal is to move from pain to healing. We can use a certain scale to measure our emotional and psychological health. For example, a person that is dealing with a great deal of trauma and pain, may be functioning at a -10. A person at a 0 would be in a neutral position. A +10 would be a very successful person, accomplishing most of their goals, or moving in that direction. We can all vary in this scale over time, sometimes even throughout one day. There are many different aspects and facets of our lives that can be rated differently as well. We all know those individuals who seem to have everything together at work, but then have a complete mess at home in their relationships. This is very common and is a natural part of life.

In life coaching, there are various aspects of life that we look at to determine success. In each category, a certain measure could be given, perhaps from a range of -10 to +10.

These include:

  • Physical environment
  • Career
  • Money
  • Health
  • Friends and family
  • Romance
  • Personal growth
  • Fun and recreation

Where do you see yourself in each category? Are there areas that you feel like are going well, and then those where you are floundering? This is completely normal and an expected answer. There are numerous examples of those in the public eye who will achieve great things, and then have their personal lives crumble. It can be difficult to give sufficient attention to each area of life. Also, it can be very common to be functioning at a high level in one area, only to plummet to the negatives in that same area in the very next instant. An unexpected loss of a job, a stock plummet, an affair by a spouse, the death of a loved one; these are usually unexpected events that change our rating on a happiness and fulfillment scale in an instant.

There is no way to be completely prepared for these disastrous events in life, but taking the time to focus on positive change in life coaching is an important way to preserve peace in unsettling times. When we are not experiencing a trauma, and have time to focus on ourselves and our goals, it is important to do so. It may feel selfish or even like a waste of time, but creating more emotional health and peace for yourself is of great benefit to those around you as well.

Exercise Caution When Seeking a Life Coach

Life coaching has become very popular in recent years. Some may consider it a trend, but it is one that is here to stay. However, since it is one of the more recent trends in counseling, there is not the proper oversight and regulation of this area. There are no state licensing requirements by any governing body. Literally anyone can begin calling himself or herself a life coach, virtually overnight. It is also common to see advertisements for health coaches, personal coaches, and fitness coaches. It is very important to exercise caution when looking for a life coach because of this lack of requirements of experience or education.

This is one way that Thriveworks Life Coaching is different. You can trust that Thriveworks life coaches are professional, trained, and educated. All of our life coaches have experience in this area and are ready and able to help you reach your goals. When you conducted the search that brought you to this page, you were probably overwhelmed with many choices and options. It is an overwhelming world full of unknown options. I have personally known Nichola Daley for over 15 years and can honestly say that she is one of the most genuine, intelligent, and compassionate people i have met. As a current behavioral health program director and employee of over 10 years, i can honestly say that Nichola develops a great rapport with every individual she encounters and performs well in problem solving and attending to their needs. Optimism and transparency are a few of her strong holds in which is why I strongly recommend her as a great therapist to consult.
